The 2025 Three Counties International Perry Championship will take place at the Malvern Autumn Show on 26-28th September.
Entries for the inaugural Three Counties International Perry Championship are now open, with judging taking place on Friday 26th September.
The Three Counties Cider & Perry Association are organising an annual Perry Festival at the Malvern Autumn Show. This fantastic event is dedicated to promoting knowledge, understanding and appreciation of perry. Perry producers exhibit at the festival alongside the competition, with talks and tastings offered for free to members of the public.
The Perry Festival is a huge asset to the Autumn Show and aligns with the charitable objectives of the Three Counties Agricultural Society to promote Horticulture, Rural Crafts, and Conservation. Perry pear growing and perry making are unique parts of the heritage of the Three Counties and it is through the passion and sincerity of many of the members of our association that the impact on our landscape and our culture by perry production is preserved.
The addition of the world’s only competition dedicated purely to perry helps draw attention to this historic and delicious drink and places a real spotlight on the best producers of perry in the Three Counties and beyond.
Three Counties Cider & Perry Association Chair, Albert Johnson, stated, “I feel very passionately that perry deserves its own pedestal in the pantheon of drinks. Perry is a challenging drink to produce due to the scarcity of fruit and the unpredictability of the juice, but it is a drink tied into our shared cultural heritage and a beautiful component of our countryside. Perry’s position is precarious, threatened by climate change, suffering from a lack of new tree plantings, and pushed into a niche as a drink due to fruited ciders; all of us who produce Perry know that it needs us to stand up and champion it. I’m delighted to do that by entering and supporting the Three Counties International Perry Championship. The new competition, dedicated purely to perry, will celebrate the fantastic producers not just in the Three Counties, but from all over the UK and even internationally, who produce this amazing, delicious drink.”

We will be announcing the results of this year’s competition at the Perry Festival Area on Saturday 27th September (time TBC) and show certificates will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and Highly Commended, if applicable, within each class.
